Create iCloud Mail - Setup iCloud

iCloud is a service provided by Apple Inc which was launched on October 12, 2011. iCloud is a cloud storage that enables users to store data such as photos, videos, documents, music and many more. You can also share data with others stored and if your Apple device is stolen or lost then you can manage and recover your data from iCloud. iCloud also provides iCloud Mail service which you can use it for free. So let’s know a little bit more about iCloud Mail.

iCloud Mail is a mail service like other mailing emails where you can receive, send, and organize email. After making an account on iCloud Mail you can use its mail app on your iOS device, iPadOS device or Mac laptop and even on Outlook on a Windows computer.

So, today in this article I will guide you on how to access iCloud Mail, use of iCloud Mail, make iCloud account and Setup iCloud account. If you are new on iCloud mail then read this article to the end which will be really helpful for you to know everything about iCloud.

Note: If you are making an Apple ID then make sure you make with @icloud.com, @me.com or @mac.com, which will allow you to use iCloud Mail with the same account.

How to Access iCloud Mail?

Open any browser In your device.
And enter the URL icloud.com/mail or click on the link iCloud Mail.

Now you will be redirected to an iCloud login page.

How to Use iCloud Mail?

To use iCloud Mail, first, you have to access the icloud.com and sign in to iCloud mail with your Apple ID. You can also use your @icloud.com email address instead of your Apple ID.

If you are already using any other iCloud features then select the feature’s name from the top of the icloud.com window and after that click on the Mail, which redirects you to the iCloud Mail.

If you don’t have Mail on icloud.com then it might be because your account is limited to iCloud web-only features. But you can use iCloud mail service by setting up your iCloud on your iOS device, iPadOS device or in a Mac.

Create an Email Address in iCloud Mail.

If you have an account of Apple ID but don’t end with @icloud.com then, you have to create an account with an @icloud.com email address on your iOS device, iPadOS, Mac before you can use iCloud Mail.

Note: @mac.com and @me.com have an equivalent address to @icloud.com

Let’s go to the steps by steps process now how to create an email address in iCloud Mail.

On Your Phone (iPhone, iPad, iPad touch)

Unlock your device first by using Fingerprint or a Passcode :D.
Go to the Settings with a Gear icon.

Now at the top of your screen, you will see [Your Name].
Click on the Name or Picture.
Now you will see a list, click on the iCloud.

After that turn on Mail after that fill the on-screen instruction like Apple ID and password and log in.
Now you will get access to your iCloud Mail account.

On Your Mac (macOS Catalina 10.15 and MacOS 10.14)

In your Mac device choose the Apple menu.

Now go to System Preferences.
Now according to your Mac version.

On macOS Catalina 10.15

Click on the Apple ID.

Now choose iCloud from the list.
Now after you click on the iCloud, choose Mail.
After that follow the on-screen instruction, user ID and Password and get access to iCloud Mail.

On macOS 10.14

Go to System Preference.
Click on the iCloud.
Now choose Mail from iCloud.

Follow the on-screen instruction, user ID and Password to get access to the mail.

After you go to iCloud and turn to Mail if you didn’t see any instruction on your iOS device, iPadOS device or Mac then you already have a primary iCloud mail email address. Then create an email alias.

Create an Email Alias.

An email alias is an email address from a recipient that conceals your primary email address. An alias can help you manage the email you receive and control unwanted messages. You can both send and receive email from alias email as well. You can use an alias to sign in to iCloud but you cant use alias email to create a separate Apple ID and neither can be converted to a primary account.

Note: If you had five MobileMe aliases email and when you move your account to iCloud then you cant replace deleted aliases with a new one

Go to the iCloud.com and turn to Mail.
Click on the Action pop-up menu gear in the sidebar.

After that choose Preferences.
Click on the Show or hide the sidebar in Mail, if you cant find sidebar.
Now click on the Accounts, after that select “Add an alias.”

Under Add an alias, provide an email address (ex: [email protected]), alias contains between 3-20 characters.
Now the name you provide comes in from the field.
Now choose the label and finally click on the OK button and click on the Done.

Setup a Windows Computer With Microsoft Outlook.

Open the Windows computer.
Go to iCloud for Windows on your Windows computer.
Now, select Mail, Contacts, Calendars, and Tasks.

After that click on the apply button.
Now your iCloud Mail account is listed in the navigation pane on Microsoft Outlook on the left side.
To view your iCloud Mail folder in Outlook, open Outlook then clicks on the disclosure triangle to the left of your iCloud email account.

IMAP Settings: for Incoming Mail Server.

Account type: IMAP

Username: Your iCloud ID.

Password: iCloud ID password.

Server hostname: imap.mail.me.com

Server Port: 993

Required Authentication?: Yes, ID and password authentication.

SSL/TLS: Yes

SMTP Settings: For Outgoing Email.

Username: Your iCloud ID.

Password: iCloud ID password.

Server hostname: smtp.mail.me.com

Server Port: 587
